Is Your Land Part of
Our Shared Legacy?

We’re Calling in Our Land—

  • Vision

The land that we are dreaming with is alive, vibrant, and available to co-create a school with us. Land holds memory— and so we are seeking a relationship with a piece of Earth that remembers how to teach humans. Those who currently caretake this land know her innate value, and take care of her well.

  • Location

The land that we are seeking is located no more than 25 minutes from central Birmingham, and is ideally located in the Sicard Hollow, Lake Purdy, Leeds or Irondale areas. We aim to be able to serve students from the greatest swath of the Birmingham area, while held in the wilds that are still available in these parts of Jefferson County.

  • Logistics

We are currently seeking 5-10 acres of forested or fielded land to hold and host 20 - 30 humans (12 - 24 students + teachers) 3-5 days a week, beginning in the fall of 2026. This land can be public or private, and we are available to explore public state parks, private ground leases, communal land trusts, and purchases with private investors.

  • Reciprocity

Intact Indigenous lineages live out a principle of reciprocity, and we aim to embody this wisdom in our land. We are available to lease, purchase or receive in-kind donation for the land itself, and in addition to exchange, we will regularly make ceremonial offerings to nourish the land, and engage in community gatherings to tend the Earth.

Our Immediate Dream

We are planning to open the doors to the school in the fall of 2026 to a small group (between 10 and 24) of 2-6 year olds. A group of 3-4 teachers, volunteer parents, and our two co-founders, alongside periodic guest teachers (including elders) will accompany the students each day. We anticipate using the land 4-6 days a week, depending on enrollment and weekend family events.

We are actively seeking 5-10 acres of land in the Sicard Hollow, Lake Purdy, Leeds or Irondale areas to lease, purchase or receive in donation or investment. Ideally, any lease would be for 3+ years.

We are actively dreaming in forested land, with access to a small lake or creek, as well as some structure for shelter, or space to build a yurt, canopy, or platform, and are available for land that has many more permanent structures and acreage.

If this vision and dream speaks to you, there is another layer to the dream that is possible— one that would nourish not only a Forest School, but other layers of enriching community spaces. We are also connected to healers, elders and community leaders who are seeking land for a high-quality Omega Housea space for conscious dying, ceremonial leaders seeking space for community ritual— like sweat lodge, as well as experts in permaculture and food forests who have the capacity to build gardens and environmental structures to feed both the school and the elder community. This larger communal dream is part of a greater legacy that can be woven of a land donation, and would require closer to 20 acres of land, with space for structures.
